About the Alpineer Club

The Alpineer Club was formed and built in 1940 by a group of polka-dancing, outdoor enthusiasts. They actually built the building themselves! The club continues today as a four-season club for people who love the outdoors.

The club is made up of a diverse group of members, who enjoy spending time together – or on their own. A typical evening at the lodge includes a few beers, some shoveling (or time on the deck in summer) and then some time in front of the fire.

Kids are welcome and really enjoy the freedom the lodge offers. The lodge is not near a big road and there’s plenty of room to explore the great outdoors. In the winter there’s sledding right outside the door and in summer there’s archery, horseshoes,  mtn biking, fishing or whatever else your kids can think of doing outside.

We have a ski team and a friendly competition with our neighbor lodge. This year our ski team took home a bunch of medals and trophies. All ages are welcome and membership in the ski team gets you half price lift tickets at a number of the local ski areas including Squaw Valley and Northstar.

We also get together socially for different events around the Bay Area. This year we had an Angel Island hike and a picnic at Mc Nears Beach. Members come from Marin, Lake County, El Cerrito, Berkeley and San Francisco.

This club is a lot of fun and it’s a great alternative to paying a ton of money to own a home in the mountains. With the added benefit of getting to hang out and interact with other members. It’s got social capital! Want to know more? Email our membership team at: membership@thealpineerclub.com.
